Used Mercedes C-Class front bumper: how to buy one that fits
To buy a used Mercedes C-Class front bumper that fits, match the chassis code (W204 2007 to 2014, W205 2014 to 2021, W206 2021 on) and its facelift, then the trim, because SE, Sport and AMG Line bumpers are different mouldings, then your three digit Mercedes paint code and the sensor and camera layout. A front bumper is a moulded body panel, so a genuine used one fits and looks factory without a new panel and a full respray. On the C-Class the trim difference is the big one, and it is where most online buyers go wrong.
Which Mercedes C-Class chassis do I have?
Mercedes identifies the C-Class by chassis code and the bumpers do not interchange between them. The W204 saloon and S204 estate ran from 2007 to 2014 and were facelifted in 2011 with a new bumper, bonnet, grille and lights. The W205 saloon and S205 estate ran from 2014 to 2021 and were facelifted in 2018, again with a revised bumper and lights. The C205 coupe and A205 cabriolet share the W205 platform but have their own bumpers. The W206 arrived in 2021. The chassis code is in almost every listing title, so match it to your car; your registration confirms the exact build and we check it before you pay.

Do SE, Sport and AMG Line use different bumpers?
Yes, and this is the key choice. On the W204, the Elegance and Executive SE cars have a conservative bumper with chrome strips, while Sport and AMG Sport cars have a deeper bumper with larger air intakes and mesh. On the W205, the SE has a plainer lower section, the Sport adds chrome and a different grille, and the AMG Line has the three slat lower intakes and a splitter. An AMG Line bumper will not sit correctly on an SE without the matching grille, brackets and sometimes the bonnet, because the pre-facelift W204 Elegance bonnet carries the star on the bonnet rather than in the grille. How do I read a Mercedes part number on a bumper?
Mercedes part numbers start with A followed by ten digits. The first three digits after the A identify the model series (204 for the W204, 205 for the W205), the next three identify the group, and the last four identify the exact part and version. The number is moulded into the back of the bumper. If you can read it off your damaged panel, send it to us and we will compare it with the panel on the shelf. Mercedes supersedes numbers over a model's life, so a later suffix can still be right. Our titles carry the OE number wherever one is present, for example A2048204539 on the W204 xenon headlight. How do I get the colour right?
C-Class bumpers are painted body colour, so the paint code matters as much as the chassis. Mercedes puts the code on the data card and on a label in the driver's door shut or under the bonnet. Codes are three digits, for example 197 Obsidian Black, 590 red, 775 Iridium Silver and 149 Polar White, and 197 and 590 both appear on C-Class panels we have listed. A colour matched used bumper goes straight on and saves a respray, which on a large panel is often the biggest part of the bill. If the only bumper available is another colour, a bodyshop can paint and blend it. Our titles state the colour and code, and the photos show the real panel.
Do I need the sensor and camera holes?
The C-Class is often well equipped, so match the features your car has. Parktronic cars have front sensors set into the bumper, usually six on the W205, and the bumper needs the holes and holders in the right positions. Cars with Distronic have a radar unit behind the lower grille, and some facelift cars have a front camera for the 360 degree system. Xenon and LED cars have headlight washer jets in the bumper. If your car has none of these, buy a plain bumper, because a sensor bumper means filling holes or leaving them visible.
