Used Vauxhall Corsa door: how to buy one that fits
To buy a used Vauxhall Corsa door that fits, match four things: the generation (Corsa C 2000 to 2006, D 2006 to 2014, E 2014 to 2019, F 2019 on), whether your car is a three door or a five door, the exact side and position, and your Vauxhall paint code such as Z20R Black Sapphire or Z22A blue from the label in the boot floor. Which Vauxhall Corsa generation do I have?
Doors do not interchange between generations, because the hinges, latch, aperture and swage lines are all different. The Corsa C ran from 2000 to 2006, the Corsa D from 2006 to 2014 with a 2011 facelift that did not change the door shells, the Corsa E from 2014 to 2019, and the Corsa F from 2019 on a Peugeot platform. The Corsa E is based on the Corsa D structure, but its doors carry different skins and trims, so do not assume they swap. Does a three door Corsa door fit a five door?
No, and this is the step that catches most people out. The three door Corsa has long front doors to give access to the rear seats, while the five door has shorter front doors plus a pair of rear doors. A three door front door is a different length and shape from a five door front door and will not fit the aperture. On the five door, the front and rear doors differ again. So you need to know three things: body style, front or rear, and side. Which side do I need, nearside or offside?
Doors are handed. On a UK right hand drive car the nearside is the passenger side, the left as you sit in the car, and the offside is the driver's side, the right. Listings use LH or NS for the passenger side and RH or OS for the driver's side. A left door will not fit the right aperture because the hinges, latch and window frame are mirrored. How do I get the colour right?
A door is a large panel, so colour matters more than on a small part. On the Corsa D and E the paint code is on a label in the spare wheel well or boot floor, and on the Corsa C it is often on the slam panel. Vauxhall codes are short, for example Z20R Black Sapphire, Z40R Summit White and Z22A blue, all of which appear on Corsa panels we have listed. A colour matched used door goes straight on and saves a respray, which on a door is often the biggest part of the bill. Should I buy a bare shell or a complete door?
A complete door comes with the glass, window regulator and motor or winder, interior trim card, handles, lock and wiring already fitted, which saves hours of work. A bare shell is just the painted skin and frame, cheaper but you transfer your own internals. For most repairs the complete door is the easier and better value choice, provided the specification matches: electric windows versus manual winders, electric mirror wiring, speaker, and the trim card colour and pattern.
