Used Vauxhall Astra front bumper: how to buy one that fits
To buy a used Vauxhall Astra front bumper that fits, match the generation (H 2004 to 2010, J 2009 to 2015, K 2015 to 2021, L 2021 on), the body style, because the Astra J GTC uses a different bumper from the five door, and your paint code from the boot floor label, then check the grille and sensor layout. A front bumper is a moulded body panel, so a genuine used one fits and looks factory without a new panel and a full respray. The Astra is one of the most common cars in Britain, so used bumpers come through our Doncaster yard regularly, provided you order the correct version.
Which Vauxhall Astra generation do I have?
The front bumper changed with every generation and with the mid-life updates, and none interchange. The Astra H ran from 2004 to 2010 with a 2007 facelift that changed the grille and lower bumper. The Astra J ran from 2009 to 2015, with a 2012 update that brought the GTC style lower bumper to the five door and estate. The Astra K ran from 2015 to 2021 with a 2019 facelift, and the Astra L arrived in 2021 with the Vizor front end. If you are unsure which you have, your registration tells us the exact build date, and we match that to the panel before you pay. Treat the year range in a listing, such as 2012 to 2015, as the fitment window, not a rough guide.
| Generation | Years | Front end notes |
|---|---|---|
| Astra H | 2004 to 2010 | 2007 facelift changed grille and lower bumper |
| Astra J | 2009 to 2015 | 2012 update; GTC three door uses its own bumper |
| Astra K | 2015 to 2021 | 2019 facelift changed grille and lights |
| Astra L | 2021 on | Vizor front panel, nothing carries over |
Is the Astra GTC bumper the same as the five door?
No. The Astra J GTC, the three door coupe style hatch, has a lower, wider front bumper with its own grille, fog light surrounds and side intakes, and it does not fit the five door hatch or Sports Tourer estate. The five door and estate share their bumper with each other within the same years. The VXR version of the GTC has a different bumper again, with larger intakes. So before you buy, confirm whether your car is a five door, Sports Tourer, GTC or VXR, and match the listing to it. Our listings name the body style where it matters, and the photos show the real panel so you can compare the outline and openings against your own car.
How do I use the Vauxhall part number to confirm fit?
Vauxhall and Opel parts carry a GM part number, usually eight digits, moulded or stamped into the back of the panel. If you can read the number off your damaged bumper, send it to us and we will compare it with the panel on the shelf. GM supersedes numbers over a model's life, so a slightly different number can still be correct; we check that for you. Our product titles carry the OE number wherever one is present. For the background, read our guide to what an OE part number is.
How do I get the colour right?
Most Astra front bumpers are colour coded to the body, so the paint code matters as much as the part number. On the Astra J and K the code is on a label in the spare wheel well or boot floor, and on older cars it is often under the boot carpet or on the slam panel. Vauxhall codes are short, for example Z40R for Summit White. A colour matched used bumper goes straight on and saves a respray, which on a large panel is often the biggest part of the bill. If the only bumper available is another colour, a bodyshop can blend it in, but factor that into the price. Our listings state the colour in the title and the photos show the real panel, so you can judge the shade for yourself.
Does the trim level change the bumper?
Yes, on most generations. SRi and SRi VX-Line cars use a sportier lower grille, mesh inserts and different fog light apertures from the Design, Exclusiv, Tech Line or Elite cars. The Astra K SRi has a honeycomb lower grille where the Design has horizontal bars. Before you buy, compare the photos with your own car: count the grille openings, check whether fog light recesses are present, and look for the chrome or gloss black trims. A bumper that already carries the right grilles and trims saves you swapping fragile clips over from your old one.
Do I need the sensor holes?
Match the features your car has. If your Astra has front parking sensors, the bumper needs the sensor holes in the right positions and ideally the holders still fitted behind them. If your car has no front sensors, buy a plain bumper, because a sensor bumper means filling the holes or leaving them visible. Astra K cars with the Opel Eye camera and front sensors, and cars with headlight washers on xenon or LED lights, also have extra apertures. Check the small details on your own car first and we will match them against the panel we have.

Frequently asked questions
Will a Vauxhall Astra front bumper from a different year fit?
Not always. The bumper differs across the Astra H (2004 to 2010), J (2009 to 2015), K (2015 to 2021) and L (2021 on), and each had a mid-life update that changed the front end. Match the generation and the year range in the listing, confirmed by your registration, before you buy.
Does an Astra GTC front bumper fit a five door Astra J?
No. The GTC three door has its own lower, wider bumper with different grilles and intakes, and the VXR differs again. The five door hatch and Sports Tourer share a bumper within the same years. Confirm your body style first and compare the photos with your car.
Does a used Astra bumper need to be the right colour?
Most are colour coded to the body. Match your paint code from the label in the boot floor or spare wheel well, for example Z40R Summit White, and the panel fits straight on. If the colour differs, a bodyshop can respray and blend it, but add that to the cost.
What about front parking sensors?
Match the sensor layout. If your car has front sensors the bumper needs the holes in the right places; if it has none, buy a plain bumper. A mismatch means filling holes or leaving them visible. Also check for headlight washer and camera apertures on higher spec cars.
Is delivery free on an Astra front bumper?
Every order has tracked UK delivery and it is free on most parts. Bumpers and other large panels carry a delivery charge because of their size, and the exact figure is shown on the product page before you check out. Order before 2pm on a working day for same-day dispatch.
