Used Ford Focus front bumper: how to buy one that fits
To buy a used Ford Focus front bumper that fits, match three things: the generation and facelift (Mk2 2004 to 2011, Mk3 2011 to 2018 with a 2014 facelift, Mk4 2018 on), the paint colour code from your VIN plate, and the trim and sensor layout of your own car. A front bumper is a moulded body panel, so a genuine used one fits and looks factory without the cost of a new panel and a respray. The Focus is one of the most common cars on UK roads, so used bumpers are plentiful, provided you order the correct version.
Which Ford Focus generation do I have?
The front bumper changed with every generation and with the mid-life facelifts, and none of them interchange. The Mk2 ran from 2004 to 2011 and was facelifted in 2008. The Mk3, Ford chassis code C346, ran from 2011 to 2018 and was facelifted in 2014 with a wider trapezoid grille and new headlights, so an early Mk3 bumper will not fit a late one. The Mk4 arrived in 2018 on a new platform. The quickest check is your registration: it tells us the exact build date, and we match that to the bumper on the shelf before you pay. Where the listing gives a year range such as 2011 to 2014 or 2014 to 2018, treat it as the fitment window.
| Generation | Years | Front end notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mk2 | 2004 to 2011 | Facelift in 2008 changed the bumper and grille |
| Mk3 (C346) pre-facelift | 2011 to 2014 | Narrow upper grille, separate lower intake |
| Mk3 (C346) facelift | 2014 to 2018 | Large trapezoid grille, new headlights, different bumper |
| Mk4 | 2018 on | New platform, no parts carry over |
How do I use the Ford part number to confirm fit?
Every Ford bumper carries a manufacturer part number moulded into the back of the panel. Ford numbers use a four character prefix for the vehicle programme and year, a middle section for the part type, and a suffix for the version; Mk3 Focus parts often start BM51. If you can read the number off your old bumper, send it to us. If the number on the used part matches, or Ford lists it as the superseding number, the bumper fits. Our product titles carry the OE number wherever one is present, so you can compare before you buy. Read more in our guide to what an OE part number is.
How do I get the colour right?
Most Focus front bumpers are colour coded to the body, so the paint code matters as much as the part number. The code is on the VIN plate in the driver's door shut, and it is usually a short letter code. Common Mk3 colours include Frozen White, Moondust Silver, Panther Black, Race Red and Deep Impact Blue. A colour matched used bumper goes straight on and saves a respray, which on a bumper is often a large part of the total cost. If the only bumper available is in another colour, a bodyshop can blend it in, but factor that into the price. Our listings state the colour in the title, and the photos show the real panel, so you can judge the shade and condition yourself.
Does the trim level change the bumper?
Yes. Zetec and Titanium cars share the standard bumper on most years, but ST-Line and ST cars use a sportier bumper with a different lower grille, mesh inserts and a deeper splitter. Titanium X and some higher trims carry chrome strips and fog light surrounds that the basic Style trim does not. Before you buy, compare the photos with your own car: count the grille openings, check whether the fog light recesses are present, and look for the chrome or gloss black trim pieces. A bumper that already carries the right grilles, fog surrounds and trims saves you swapping parts over from your damaged one, and those small clips break easily on a second removal.
Do I need the sensor holes?
Match the features your car has. If your Focus has front parking sensors, the bumper needs the four sensor holes in the right positions and ideally the sensor holders still fitted behind them. If your car has no front sensors, buy a plain bumper, because fitting a sensor bumper means filling four holes or leaving them visible. Some facelift Mk3 cars also have a radar module for Active City Stop behind the lower grille, and headlight washer jets sit in the bumper on cars with xenon lights. Check the small details on your own car first and we will match them against the panel we have.
What does a used Focus bumper come with?
It varies by donor car, which is why the photos matter. A complete front bumper assembly can include the upper and lower grilles, fog light surrounds, number plate plinth, side brackets and the sensor holders. Many breakers sell the bare skin only. We list what is on the panel in the description and photograph the real item, so there is no surprise when the box opens. If you also need the wing to bumper brackets, slam panel or bonnet, order them from the same donor car where possible so the panel gaps line up as Ford intended.

Frequently asked questions
Will a Ford Focus front bumper from a different year fit?
Not always. The bumper differs across the Mk2 (2004 to 2011), Mk3 (2011 to 2018) and Mk4 (2018 on), and the Mk3 was facelifted in 2014 with a new grille and bumper. Check whether your car has the pre-facelift or facelift front end, then match the generation and year range, confirmed by your registration.
Does a used Focus bumper need to be the right colour?
Most are colour coded to the body, so match your paint code from the VIN plate in the door shut and the panel fits straight on. If the colour differs, a bodyshop can respray and blend it, but add that to the cost. Our listings state the colour and show the real panel in the photos.
How do I know if the bumper suits my trim level?
Compare the photos with your car. ST-Line and ST cars use a sportier bumper with different lower grilles and mesh, and higher trims carry chrome strips and fog light surrounds. Count the grille openings and check for fog recesses and trim pieces before ordering so you are not swapping parts over.
What about front parking sensors?
Match the sensor layout. If your car has front sensors, the bumper needs the holes in the right places; if it has none, buy a plain bumper. A mismatch means filling holes or leaving them visible. Also check for headlight washer jets and a radar module on facelift cars.
Is delivery free on a Focus front bumper?
Every order has tracked UK delivery and it is free on most parts. Bumpers and other large panels carry a delivery charge because of their size, and the exact figure is shown on the product page before you check out. Order before 2pm on a working day for same-day dispatch.
