Used Mercedes A-Class wing mirror: how to buy one that fits

To buy the right used Mercedes A-Class wing mirror, match the generation of your car, the part number on the mirror base, and your paint colour code, and buy the complete assembly rather than just the glass. Do that and a used mirror clips straight on, powers, heats and indicates exactly like the original, for far less than a new one.

A wing mirror is one of the best parts to buy used, because it is a self-contained unit that either works or it does not, and a good seller has already checked it.

Which A-Class do you have?

The mirror differs across the three generations and they do not interchange. The W169 ran from 2004 to 2012. The W176 ran from 2012 to 2018. The W177 arrived in 2018 and is the current shape. The later cars carry more in the mirror housing, such as power folding, indicators, puddle lights and blind spot sensors, so a W176 mirror will not do the job of a W177 one. Identify your generation first, and if you are unsure, your registration tells us exactly which car you have.

Why buy the whole mirror, not just the glass?

The cheap listings you see are usually just the heated glass or a cover cap. They are fine if that is all you have broken. But if the housing, motor or indicator is damaged, a complete used assembly is the better buy: one part, one fit, everything matched and working. As a breaker we supply the full unit, motor, glass, cover and indicator together, which is the real advantage of buying used over piecing it together from new accessories.

How do I match the part number and the spec?

The mirror carries a Mercedes part number on its base or back. Match it to the number in the listing and you account for the differences that the name alone misses, such as folding versus fixed, and how many wires the plug has. The wiring plug pin count is the quick check: count the pins on your old mirror's connector and confirm it matches, so the heating, folding and indicator all work once fitted.

Does it need to match my colour?

Most A-Class mirror caps are colour coded to the body. Match your paint code, found on the VIN plate or in the door shut, and a used mirror goes straight on. If the cap colour does not match, the caps themselves are cheap to swap or respray, so a colour mismatch on an otherwise perfect mirror is not a deal breaker.
