Used Mercedes B-Class W246 parts: what to check before you buy
Before you buy used Mercedes B-Class W246 parts, check three things: that your car really is a W246 (2011 to 2018) and not the earlier W245, the engine code on your V5C or engine cover, and the three digit paint code on the door pillar sticker. The two B-Class generations share almost nothing, and within the W246 there are several engines and a 2015 model year facelift that change what fits. This guide covers the parts W246 owners ask for most, and how to match them with confidence.
Is my B-Class a W245 or a W246?
The first B-Class, the W245, ran from 2005 to 2011 with a tall, upright body on the sandwich-floor A-Class platform. The W246 arrived in late 2011 with a lower roof, a conventional floor and a new interior. Nothing structural carries over: doors, bonnets, boot lids, lamps, mirrors, dashboards, seats and heater units are all different. The part numbers tell you too. W245 parts carry A169 prefixes, W246 parts carry A246 prefixes. If your V5C says 2011 it could be either, so check the registration date, or look for the W246's free standing dashboard display screen. If in doubt, send the registration and we will tell you.
What changed at the 2015 facelift?
The W246 was refreshed for the 2015 model year, with cars built from late 2014 carrying the update. The front bumper, grille and headlamps were restyled, the rear lamps gained a new light signature, and the interior received a larger display and new trim. Mechanically the car stayed much the same. For parts buyers this means front and rear lamps, bumpers and some interior trims are specific to pre or post facelift, while doors, mirrors, heater blowers, window regulators and most mechanical items run through the whole 2011 to 2018 production. Match the year range in the listing title to your build date, not just the model year printed on the V5C.
Which engine does my W246 have and why does the code matter?
UK W246 diesels are mostly badged B180 CDI or B200 CDI. The early cars use the OM651 four cylinder, fitted in 1.8 litre form and labelled 1.8L diesel on the engine cover and in our listings. From 2013 a B180 CDI with a smaller 1.5 litre OM607 engine joined the range, which is a different unit entirely. Petrol B180 and B200 cars use the M270 turbo four cylinder. A B180 CDI badge therefore covers two unrelated diesels, so the badge alone is not enough. Find the engine code on your V5C under engine number, or on the sticker on the engine cover, and quote it when buying injectors, turbos, intake pipes, sumps or a complete engine. Our engine codes page explains where to look, and the OM651 engine collection groups the common parts.
Will a used W246 door fit my car and how do I match the colour?
W246 doors fit across the 2011 to 2018 range and are not affected by the facelift. Fitment is by side and position: front or rear, left or right. Colour is the main variable. The paint code is on the sticker on the driver's door shut or B pillar, shown as a three digit number. Cosmos Black 191 is the most common W246 colour we see, followed by silvers and whites. A door in the correct code will be a close match once fitted, though a car with years of weathering may show a slight difference against fresh paint. Doors are usually supplied as a bare shell or complete with glass, regulator and lock, so check what the listing includes before you buy.
Are W246 electric folding mirrors side specific?
Yes. A right hand mirror will not fit the left side. Beyond side, check whether your car has power folding, heated glass, puddle lights, memory or blind spot warning, because the connector and motor assembly differ between specifications. A used mirror from the same trim level and year range is the simplest way to get all of these right. The cap is colour coded, so match the paint code as you would a door. We photograph the connector and the cap on every mirror so you can compare before ordering.
Does the heater blower motor fit all W246 models?
The W246 heater blower motor sits behind the dashboard on the passenger side and runs through the 2011 to 2018 range. The unit is often supplied with its resistor or regulator, which controls fan speed, and it is worth replacing both together if the fan has been running on one speed only. Our stock has included the W246 blower under part number A2469064300, which is the one to compare against the label on your unit. The earlier W245 blower, A1698200642, is a different part and will not fit.
Which rear lamps, steering wheels and instrument clusters fit a W246?
Rear lamps are facelift specific: pre facelift lamps and 2015 onwards lamps have different lenses and light signatures and do not match if mixed. They are also side specific. Steering wheels vary by trim, with Sport and AMG Line cars having different rim designs and multifunction switch layouts, and the airbag is sold separately. An instrument cluster is matched to the car's coding, so a used cluster will need programming to your vehicle by a Mercedes specialist before it will display correctly. For clusters and display units, quote the part number from your existing unit so the hardware version matches. Our electrical and electronics collection lists clusters, switches and modules across makes.

Frequently asked questions
Do W245 and W246 B-Class parts interchange?
No. The W245 (2005 to 2011) and W246 (2011 to 2018) are different platforms with different bodies and interiors, and their parts do not fit each other.
Which engine is in a Mercedes B180 CDI W246?
Early B180 CDI cars use the 1.8 litre OM651 four cylinder diesel, while from 2013 a 1.5 litre OM607 version was also sold. Check the engine code on your V5C or engine cover before buying engine parts.
What is Mercedes paint code 191?
191 is Cosmos Black, one of the most common W246 colours. The code is on the sticker in the driver's door shut or B pillar.
Will a used W246 instrument cluster work straight away?
No. A used cluster needs coding to your car by a Mercedes specialist before it displays correctly, so match the part number of your existing unit.
Are W246 rear lamps the same before and after the facelift?
No. The 2015 model year facelift changed the rear lamp design, so pre and post facelift lamps do not match and should not be mixed.
