The Used Car Parts Britain Actually Buys: 90 Days of Real eBay Sales Data

Wing mirrors are the fastest-selling used car parts in Britain right now. Over a 90 day window on eBay UK, Mercedes A-Class wing mirrors sold through at 29.3% of live listings, BMW 1 Series mirrors at 28.3%, and Ford Fiesta front bumpers at 23.6%. At the other end, an Audi A4 alternator sold through at just 1.7%, but with barely anyone else selling one.

We are a vehicle dismantler in Doncaster, so we watch this data to decide what to list first. We are publishing it because almost nobody shares real demand numbers for used parts, and they are useful whether you buy parts, break cars or write about the trade.

What we measured

We pulled eBay UK sold-listing data (Terapeak product research) for 14 common part and model searches over the 90 days from 28 March to 26 June 2026. For each term we recorded the sell-through rate (the share of live listings that actually sold in the window), the average sold price and the number of sellers competing. Full methodology and caveats are at the bottom.

The numbers

Search term Sell-through Avg sold price Sellers
Mercedes A-Class wing mirror 29.3% £44.60 799
BMW 1 Series wing mirror 28.3% £29.99 720
Ford Fiesta front bumper 23.6% £55.37 821
Vauxhall Corsa door 19.9% £36.31 1,329
VW Golf bumper 14.5% £52.39 1,074
BMW 3 Series headlight 13.3% £85.84 1,665
Ford Kuga front bumper 12.4% £70.43 303
Ford Focus headlight 11.6% £57.73 1,072
Mercedes C-Class bumper 11.1% £72.28 740
Audi A4 headlight 7.6% £54.55 863
BMW 320d engine 6.0% £85.59 363
BMW 5 Series alloy wheels 4.4% £234.94 760
Audi A3 gearbox 4.0% £98.91 235
Audi A4 alternator 1.7% £83.28 177

Which used car parts sell fastest?

Body and visual parts. Mirrors, bumpers, doors and headlights fill the top nine places. These are the parts people damage most often, need quickly, and will happily buy used because a genuine used mirror or colour-matched bumper from a donor car beats a flimsy copy panel. If you break cars, list these first. If you drive one of these models, this is why the good ones disappear fast.

The most under-served market: Ford Kuga front bumpers

Every other body part term has 700 to 1,700 sellers competing. The Ford Kuga front bumper has 303, with a healthy 12.4% sell-through and a £70 average price. Strong demand, thin supply. It was the cleanest gap in all 14 searches, and the reason we prioritise Kuga stock when one arrives in the yard.

Engines, gearboxes and alloys: slow sellers, big tickets

A BMW 320d engine sold through at 6%, an Audi A3 gearbox at 4%, and BMW 5 Series alloys at 4.4% but with the highest average price of the lot at £234.94. Fewer buyers search for these in any 90 day window, but when they do, they need exactly the right unit and there are very few genuine used ones for sale. These parts do not sell fast. They sell well.

What this means if you are buying used parts

Two practical takeaways. First, if you find the right used mirror, bumper or headlight for your car, do not sit on it. Sell-through rates of 20% or more mean the good, cheap examples go quickly. Second, for an engine, gearbox or set of alloys, the exact match matters far more than speed. Check the engine or gearbox code, the manufacturer part number and the donor vehicle before you buy anything. Every part we list shows the donor car it came from, and we are happy to check fitment against your reg before you order.

Methodology and caveats

Source: eBay UK Terapeak product research, SOLD listings, 28 March to 26 June 2026, all conditions. Sell-through is the share of live listings for the term that sold in the window. One honest caveat: these search terms also return new aftermarket accessories such as mirror caps, bulbs and grille trims, which inflate the apparent activity on some terms. We have not stripped those out, so treat the figures as a demand signal for each term, not a count of used parts sold. The comparison between terms still holds because the same effect applies across all of them.
