What we check on a used BMW gearbox

Gearboxes are taken from cars that drove in under their own power where possible, and the donor mileage is on every listing. We check the casing for cracks and leaks and, on automatics, look at the fluid condition. The gearbox code and ratio tag are photographed so you can match yours exactly; automatic boxes from the same model can still differ by code, so check it before buying.
